Chrysler, more than any other U.S. automaker, has reached back into the past for its show cars. This 1990 Chrysler 300 concept sedan tried to recapture the flavor of Exner's 1950s Ghia cars, especially in the Italianate grille. Modern 300 also played off Chrysler's big performance cars of that same era. It even had suicide rear doors and faux quad lamps.
THE 1991 CHRYSLER 300 four-door concept car recalls the original Chrysler 300 series and other classics from the 1960s. Built in a 126-inch wheelbase, the rear-wheel drive Chrysler 300 is powered by an 8-liter V-10 "Copperhead" engine mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. Features include air conditioning vents in the performance driver's seat, a combination television/video cassette recorder/cellular phone and separate headphones for rear seat passengers, functional rear-hinged back doors, and three levels of interior lighting.

THE FUNCTIONAL REAR-HINGED DOORS on this 1991 Chrysler 300 concept car allow for easy entrance and exit. As a safety feature, the front door must be opened before the rear door will open; there are no fixed B-pillars. The cockpit-style driver's compartment contains a performance driver's seat, instrument cluster, and contoured steering wheel all in black; the rest of the interior is tan. The rear-wheel drive Chrysler 300 is built on a 126-inch wheelbase and is powered by an 8-liter V-10 "Cooperhead" engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission.

THE 1991 CHRYSLER 300 concept car conveys power, sophistication, and luxury. A guaranteed head-turner, Chrysler 300's lineage is traced back to the Chrysler 300 luxury performance series of the 1960s. The boattail-shaped rear end of the 126" wheelbase car features an active aero spoiler. Chrysler 300's front track is 65" and the rear track 63"; the front tires are 275/40R19, the rear tires are 335/40R20.
