Plymouth Voyager XG Concept Minivan Appeals to New Generation
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Oct. 29 -- Sky surfing. Big air
snowboarding. Downhill in-line. Street luge. Wakeboarding. Bicycle stunts.
If these activities sound appealing, then the Plymouth Voyager XG concept
minivan might be for you.
"We built the Plymouth Voyager XG concept minivan for the adventure-
seeking, mountain-biking, trail-riding, ocean-surfing individual who has a lot
of equipment and is always on the go," said Ralph Sarotte, General Product
Manager of Chrysler Corporation's Minivan Platform. "The vehicle would expand
the minivan market segment by attracting a new generation of minivan buyers."
Powered by a 2.5-liter turbo diesel engine with enhanced output and a five
speed manual transaxle, Plymouth Voyager XG offers power in a fuel efficient
package. Averaging 28 miles per gallon, Voyager XG would allow drivers to
spend less money and time at the gas pump and more time getting to where they
need to be.
Painted in a Starbrite Silver Metallic Clear Coat with dark silver
accents, Voyager XG has a high-tech, expressive appearance.
Similar to high-quality ski goggles and sunglasses, Voyager XG's side and
rear windows are reflective and coated with a blue tint. The vehicle has
Plymouth Prowler's 17-inch wheels which are painted Sterling Silver with
anodized blue center caps. Voyager XG's graphics, which take cues from
today's high-quality mountain bikes, are a bright solar yellow.
Voyager XG's spacious taupe interior features leather seats with a high-
tech fabric that has a woven metal appearance. The interior is laden with
storage cargo nets located between the seats, rear headliner, passenger-side
rear quarter, and behind all seats.
Other interior features include a power retractable roof and a removable
mobile storage pod that serves as a built-in ice chest and storage drawer.
"Plymouth Voyager XG is the keeper of stuff," said Sarotte. "When you get
off work, there's no need to go home. You can store your stuff securely in
the back and make a quick get-away to the beach, trail or half pipe."
