At the 1968 Geneva Motor Show Bertone presented the Panther, a racing prototype for the Brescia Corse team, destined for the Prototype World Championships. The rear was designed to feature two large grilles for engine-cooling and the exhaust pipes. The refined aerodynamics also featured a prominent, high, wing-shaped spoiler above the cockpit, which could be hydraulically controlled to vary its effect. The chassis was a monocoque for obvious reasons of practicality of replacement, and enhanced aerodynamics. The prototype featured many advanced solutions, such as the geometry of the suspensions, tubeless tyres and a 24 Volt electrical system which offered equal absorption but allowed for the use of smaller, and therefore lighter, conductors.
