Can anyone tell me the history of this car? I'd like to know more about it. It reminds me of the Fiat X1/9 that came out 2 or 3 years after it. I've tried to find information about this car and it's apparent similarity to the later Fiat (Bertone) design and have found nothing so far. Was this car inspired by Bertone's Autobianchi concept from 1969? Was Bertone heavily influenced by this Ghia design when they designed the X1/9? Why didn't De Tomaso build this neat little car?

From Phil Ward's "Fiat X1/9" (1994,ISBN 1-899870-51-2) page 27:

"In an apparent attempt to steal their thunder, Alejandro DeTomaso pre-empted the X1/9 by presenting a car at the Turin show that was obviously a copy of the Bertone design. It is said that DeTomaso saw a skecth of forthcoming Fiat and rapidly put together his own prototype"
