1993 Renault Racoon

1993 Racoon made entrance. It is a go-anywhere amphibious concept car that really can be driven everywhere also in water (where the topspeed is 5 knots). It is a 4-wheel drive with a V6 Twin-turbo engine. It is equipped with a navigationssystem, compass, cameras which and driving in the dark is made easier with a infrared camera.

Racoon made its first public appearance in 1992 in a film intended to demonstrate Renault’s technological expertise in the field of computer-generated imagery. The concept car itself is an all-terrain, go-anywhere vehicle, which bristles with ideas and technologies.

This concept car is also amphibious with a top speed of 5 knots in water. Its philosophy is one of taking its occupants right to the very heart of their environment. The extra-high and extendable ground clearance, over-sized green wheels, long arms and bulging head give the vehicle a decidedly unusual appearance.

With forms that are round and flowing, Racoon has three distinct sides to its character. First, a hybrid, helicopter-like look with a high glass cockpit underlines its observation and discovery functions. Second, Racoon seats its occupants almost horizontally like a sports car. And third, it flexes its mechanical muscles unashamedly like a powerful construction vehicle.

Концептуальный Renault Racoon (Ракун), впервые, публика увидела в 1992 году в демонстрационном фильме, рассказывающем о технологических достижениях французской компании в области виртуальных технологий будущего. Модель представляла собой транспортное средство, способное передвигаться по любой поверхности, при этом «напичканное» совершенными технологиями.

Более того, данный автомобиль является амфибией, способной передвигаться в воде со скоростью до 5 км/ч. Благодаря огромному дорожному просвету, большим зеленым колесам и полусфере кабины, модель выглядит очень необычно.

В соответствии с философией внешнего дизайна, Racoon имеет три отличительные черты «характера». Первая – это кокпит, выглядящий как кабина вертолета, намекающий на прекрасную обзорность и функциональность при наблюдениях за окружающим миром. Вторая – сиденья концепта спроектированы так, что вы ощущаете себя в них, как в салоне спортивного автомобиля. И третья – неприкрытая демонстрация механических «мускулов» кузова демонстрирует нам всю мощь и силу Racoon. Компьютерный видеоролик получил Гран-При на фестивале «Имаджина – 1992»
