At the Detroit Motor Show Lincoln is unveiling the MKR Concept, a four door sedan whose design brings the styling cues of future Lincoln models.
The most popular car in the Lincoln exhibit was the head-turning MKR prototype that introduced a new design language of “elegant simplicity” on a 4-door coupe, and debuted the all-new, fuel-saving TwinForce engine. Developed to perform comparable or better than V-8 engines, the 3.5-liter gasoline twin-turbocharged direct-injection V-6 deliverd 415 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque on renewable E-85 ethanol. This one-of-a-kind automobile sat on chrome aluminum wheels wrapped in unique Michelin tires that featured the Lincoln star in its treads. Chrome-trimmed gauges illuminated with Ice Blue lighting, and the concave spoke steering wheel included retractable paddle shifters. Visually, the MKR had clean, uncluttered surfaces, with a significant C-pillar that smoothly transitioned into the cantilevered roof. The double-wing grille was inspired by the 1941 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet.

Своим внешним видом концептуальный бизнес-седан MKR, вроде бы, вселяет надежду. Правда, салон с россыпью дополнительных дисплеев на торпедо напротив кресла переднего пассажира и «экологическими» отделочными материалами выглядит строго концептуальным. Удлиненная заднеприводная платформа Ford Mustang? Уже хорошо, что «бюджетную» заднюю подвеску заменили на независимую. По-настоящему интересен мотор. 3,5-литровый V6 (415 л.с./542 Нм) объединяет технологии турбонаддува и непосредственного впрыска бензина, способен переварить топливо Е85, и к тому же связан с АКП6. Однако решение о финансировании проекта MKR пока не принято...

Very nice, although the front grille is a bit too bold and aggressive for my personal taste. Other than that, it's a great concept car! Would be nice if Lincoln would put something very similar into production and use newer hybrid or alternative fuel source technology.
